DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS, FLA -
By now, you have probably heard the story. Apparently, the number of DOC employee's kids who were tased during "bring your kid to work day" events is now pegged at 43. And, of course, some of the kids were exposed to teargas as well. No doubt the commie mainstream media has distorted the story to make it look bad.
Well, if you happened to catch the story on CNN or through some other CMM source and want to hear the true story, you have come to the right place. (Of course, you have to read it here. If you must hear it, just read it out loud.)
So anyway, the story broke a couple of weeks ago. Some kid complained of being tased at a prison function, and although it was all in good fun, some people saw it as not so fun. Then there was the prison people's rebuttal. So you would think case closed, right? Well, some nosey news reporter had to get all sensationalistic about it and get more DOC condemning news. And they found out that kids are actually getting tased all the time at prisons, which is seen as a bad thing if you don't know the whole story. And the tear gas part doesn't help much.
THE REST OF THE STORY:
So they say "43 kids zapped", right? Well, it turns out that 29 of the kids were holding hands in a circle, and only one of the kids were hit with the taser. The remaining 28 were just "zapped" indirectly. See what I'm saying? So that brings the number of kids actually tased down to approximately 15. Also, the device used to shock the kids was not one of those 100,000 volt things with the stingers attached to wires. No, people, the kids were tased with a handheld device that only delivers 50,000 volts-one half of the usual. So that brings the total number of kids down to approximately 7.5.
Also, the warden was out of town when his daughter was tased. (Or more accurately "half tased"). So that brings the number down to an even 7. Not such a sensational headline now, is it? Also, Walt McNeil, the Secretary of the FLA DOC, has stressed that the incidents only occurred at three prisons, and there are 55 prisons in Florida. Nobody wants to report about the kids that were not tased, because that would just be boring.
Also, to stress that the kids were not tased by out of control taser crazed prison guards, McNeil points out that no prisoners have been tased by handheld 50,000 volt tasers this year. Only school children have been tased, and it's almost June.
Now, about the teargas. Unknown to many, kids have been exposed to poisonous gas for decades and nobody has said a thing. Disney Inc. even sells a gas mask for kids, as seen here.
So relax, people. It's not nearly as bad as they want you to think.
