39 year old Clyde Canup, pictured here, must have started early yesterday. Whenever and whatever he started, it ended with a big Cops style action-packed car chase yesterday evening before the sun went down.
It all startd with Mr. Canup driving his pickup truck on the wrong side of 82nd Avenue North, in Pinellas Park, FLA. Clyde ran a cop off the road, so the cop (sensing something was amiss) turned around and gave chase. First Clyde drove straight into a stop sign and mowed it down. Then Clyde drove into somebody's front yard and hit a basketball hoop.
Unlike the stop sign, the basketball hoop was not firmly planted in the ground and became attached to Clyde's truck. Having the portable basketball hoop didn't slow Clyde down too much. With the basketball hoop along for the ride, Clyde proceeded to exit the lawn and ram into a parked car. Clyde then left the scene of that accident to go through another yard and hit a garage.
Despite the astounding obstacles that kept popping up, Clyde kept going with remarkable precision and tenacity. He threw his truck in reverse, backed out of the yard, and took down a mailbox in the process.
For a grand finale, Clyde ran into a raised media, and then ran into a lightpole. Finally, Clyde ran his 1998 GMC into a tree located at 7975 Belcher Road. The remainder of Clyde's travels were as a passenger. First stop was the emergency room, where Clyde was treated for scratches and cuts and stuff. Clyde said "heck no, natty headed ho" when asked if he would consent to a blood test.
So the next stop was the jailhouse, where Clyde had his picture taken and was charged with driving under the influence, refusing to allow
a blood sample and fleeing and attempting to elude police.
