Here in Tampa the housing market is pretty darn flat. Nothing's really selling, prices are dropping, and there are reports of real estate agents eating out of trashcans alongside rabid racoons. So a local condo company has an idea...just one word: "Naked People". Eden Condominiums plans to offer it's residents the choice of taking off their clothes, even their underwear, when visiting one of the pools at their "Arbors at Branch Creek" development. And it's a choice, so residents also have the option of visiting the pool fully clothed and just looking at naked people.
What happened is that Eden Condominiums bought the property, a complex of 390 units, three years ago, when the market was smoking hot sizzling. Now, three years later, Eden continues to own the bulk of the units and people just aren't lining up to buy, like in the good old days. Like Christine Pirkle, the Eden spokesperson says, "the market went in the toilet and nothing was selling".
Meanwhile, a few miles north in Pasco County, the Naked People industry is booming. So Eden saw the potential and jumped. According to Pirkle, "we have two fabulous swimming pools here. We are taking one of them,
building cabanas and lush landscapes and completely privatizing it and
it will be clothing optional".
Some current residents were unaware of the plans until quite recently, and have voiced plans to move to a place where people keep their clothes on when outside of their units.
Stay tuned, this might get good.
