Yes, it's true. Three year old Rhett Lamb of St. Petersburg did not sleep a wink until yesterday.
According to his parents, David and Shannon Lamb, the cute little tyke pictured on the left never slept at night and never took a nap for the first three years of his life. Apparently, he had what's called a "chiari formation" which is basically a piece of brain that doesn't really fit in the skull. So this piece of brain puts pressure on the spinal column, causing all kinds of maladies.
In Rhett's case, the malady was never sleeping. And when a three year old never sleeps, the kid's parents can't really sleep either.
"It is hell," father David Lamb said. "It has taken a toll on me and my wife and our relationship."
"(My
husband) has the day shift and I kind of have the afternoon shift,"
mother Shannon Lamb said. "We share the night shift because no one can
sleep in the house when he is up anyway."
Rhett had surgery yesterday to relieve the pressure on his spinal cord. And, much to his parent's delight, he slept last night.
For David and Shannon's sake, I sure do hope it wasn't just the anesthesia.
