When the Tampa police arrested Robert Linger and his buddies the bust went down pretty easy. It was just a matter of telling some middle-aged guys to put their pants back on and watch your head while you get in the car.
Last night, however, a prostitution bust got pretty hardcore. Officer Alberto Burgos was hanging out near Floribraska (don't let the exotic name fool you - not a nice place) Avenue, posing as a "john". (They call a prostitute's customer a "john" which for some vague reason I can't put my finger on, seems very appropriate).
So anyway Officer Burgos is walking along looking like wants to pay for sex and he is approached by Yuber Sanchez, Isaac Rodriguez, (a couple of scary big-ass pimp mofos) and Heather Nunn, a 22 year old female. Officer Burgos is playing the john role like a champ, bargaining and saying he had to go to the ATM and all, and probably feeling pretty good about the whole thing.
So Burgos goes away for a couple of minutes like he's going to am ATM, probably stopped an chatted with one of the cops hidden around the area for back up, and headed back to the sex salespeople. As he's walking along, the two big pimp guys jump him and start beating the heck out of him. There was punching and kicking and choking and all that fun stuff, and then Isaac has to ruin it all by pulling out a knife. Burgos, apparently still alone with these guys, decided to put a stop to it by shooting Isaac in the neck.
Isaac is recuperating at a local hospital (wonder what it would be like if he was your roommate, like while you were getting your appendix out?). They caught Heather, but Yuber is still at large. Police say he is about 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighs about 190 pounds and was
last seen wearing a rainbow-colored golf shirt, tan shorts and a hat. I wish I had a picture of that.
